Two California Schools Tapped for National Arts Education Grants

The American Theatre Wing, the force behind the Tony Awards, is putting its money where its mouth is.

The group has awarded more than 250 students in 34 states with grants to help them continue their arts education, the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Two California high schools were among the recipients of grants from the Andrew Lloyd Webber Initiative, which includes college and training scholarships and classroom resource grants.

Canyon Hills High School in San Diego and Cordova High School in Rancho Cordova were selected to take part in the program.

One California student, Olivia Zenetis, was also tapped for a grant.

Since it began in 2016, the initiative has awarded roughly $3.5 million to more than 250 recipients in 34 states.
