OVERVIEW: We currently have an opportunity available for an Education and Disabilites Manager with our Division of Child Development and Youth Services.

This position is responsible for the overall implementation of education and disabilities services throughout the Head Start/Early Head Start program that is outlined in the Head Start Performance Standards and Head Start Act. Will take the lead in the implementation of the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, and other special education provisions. The position will also supervise the educational services; guide curriculum and program planning, development, and training and serves as a resource for the Education Specialists and/or teachers.

Duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Enforces Office of Head Start and Illinois Department of Child and Family Services licensing standards and regulations for education and disabilities areas.
  • Enforces all agency policies and procedures.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality in all matters brought forth to the Director of Child Development Programs' office and Child Development and Youth Services Division.
  • Participates in the Community Assessment and Self-Assessment processes.
  • Maintains tracking and data entry for COPA and TSG.
  • Bridges families from Early Head Start to Head Start programs and services and assist in the transition for Head Start children and families to Kindergarten and/or other community based service providers.
  • Responsible for orientation, support and technical assistance to education staff, including developing lesson plans and individualization to meet the needs of each enrolled child to ensure quality services and compliance with Head Start Performance Standards and state licensing regulations.
  • Responsible for the development of comprehensive written education and disabilities service plans and procedures.



Qualifications:

Education: This position requires a minimum of a Master's Degree in ECE, Business, or Social Services.

Experience: The ideal candidate will possess 5 to 7 years' management experience in early childhood education or public administration and a minimum of 5 years' experience with people management.

Additional Qualifications:

Demonstrates the experiences, beliefs, attitude and awareness that indicate sensitivity to the client population served.
