Young Egyptians Dabble in Voluntary Work for Social Revolution

University of Copenhagen's anthropologist Sara Lei Sparre concludes in her latest submitted PhD thesis that a new movement of young Egyptians dedicated to doing voluntary work has provided many young people a stronger social and political consciousness.

Sparre followed a group of young Egyptians before and after the protests in the Tahrir Square in 2011 that caused the fall of President Mubarak. The young volunteers she followed were from Egypt’s oldest charity organizations, Resala youth charity.
