Prison Education Can Prevent Recession and Boost Employment

A new RAND Corporation report finds that prison inmates who have undergone general education and vocational training are less likely to return to prison post-discharge and are more likely to find employment than their counterparts who do not get such opportunities.

The findings also suggest that prison education programs are cost effective. The findings were from the largest meta-analysis of correctional educational studies and were conducted within the RAND Safety and Justice Program.
