Philanthropy Daily features the study done by The Chronicles of Philanthropy on the most generous people in America, the list called Philanthropy 50.

Reaching the $6 billion mark, heading the list is the late Margaret A. Cargill, who supports two foundations to benefit the arts, the environment, disaster relief, and other causes. This is Cargill's first year on the list and managed to gain the top spot.
