Philanthropic groups like the Tourism Cares and the Clinton Foundation have collaborated with the Haitian Ministry of Tourism and the Tourism Association to improve northern Haiti's tourism.
The tourism initiative, called the Northern Haiti Tourism Coalition Project, will serve to expand tourism to various places and structures important to Haiti such as the nation's Unesco World Heritage Sites. The initiative is primarily granted with $10,000 from each organization.

New social enterprise, I.M.P.A.C.T Northeast CIC, has moved its headquarters smack dab in Sunderland city. I.M.P.A.C.T is set up at the University of Sunderland’s Enterprise Place and offers services to schools and local communities.
