Cystinosis Research Foundation Reaches Treatment Milestone with $2.15 Million Grants


The Cystinosis Research Foundation has pumped up a total of $2,153,048 grants in 2013 to researchers investigating better treatments and a cure for cystinosis.

Cystinosis is a rare metabolic and genetic disease that plagues children and young adults around the world. In 2013, the Food and Drug Administration approved to develop advanced cystinosis treatment initially discovered by CRF-funded researchers.

    Nonprofit impact investing firm, Acumen, has invested $1.2 million to KZ Noir, a Rwanda-based coffee processing company owned by Kaizen Venture Partners. The investment will equip KZ Noir the funds for working capital, debt refinancing, and capacity expansion.
