A post written by Robin Pendoley, co-founder and CEO of Thinking Beyond Borders, tackles how higher education in the U.S. is facing a crisis where students, parents, and employers are all expressing doubt about the value of an undergraduate degree.

To resolve the issue, innovators are trying to change the form and function of higher education. Pendoley has observed that teaching social entrepreneurship is a key part of solving the problem.

Pendoley has listed programs that are "helping students develop the sense of purpose and direction they need to take advantage of the enormous value their colleges offer."

These programs include: ThinkImpact, The Social Innovation Initiative at the Swearer Center at Brown University, and Middlebury Center for Social Entrepreneurship.
