In the fight against climate change, one company is taking a standagainst plastic bags.

Nexans, a French engineering firm, has become the first company in the world to ban the sale of bags made from plastic microbeads, the BBC reports.

The ban, which took effect in July, is designed to cut down on the use of plastic microbeads, which scientists say are warming the planet and exacerbating climate change.

Nexans, which has 72 sites in 24 countries, says it plans to cut its greenhouse gas emissions by a third by 2050.

The company's chief environmental officer says the ban is an example of how companies can do more to fight climate change.

"The plastic industry is a good example of how companies can do more to fight climate change," he says.

"It's a good example of how companies can work together to fight climate change."

Nexans' chief executive says the ban is an example of how companies can do more to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions.

"By aiming for net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, Nexans leads meaningful change and setting an example for other organizations to follow," he says.
