Student-Created Talent Showcase Brings in $10,000 for Casa De Amistad

"Nothing short of spectacular, rivaling even professional shows."

That's how the president of the CART Youth Foundation in San Diego, Calif., described a Nov.

11 youth talent show that raised $10,000 for a nonprofit that helps kids from low-income families, the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

The robotics team CART, the Hope4Kids and Stars Youth Club, and the Xingjian Dance Studio teamed up to put on the event, which featured 23 performances from more than 60 young artists in dance, music, magic, and Wushu martial arts.

"We hope to attract more talented youth to join us in making a positive and lasting impact on our community," Chris Zheng, president of the CART Youth Foundation, said in a statement.

The money will go to Casa de Amistad, which works with kids through weekly tutoring, summer camps, and community service.
