The Community Foundation of the Quincy Area recently held its annual Friends of Philanthropy event to recognize individuals and organizations contributing to philanthropy in the region.

Since its establishment in 1997, the Community Foundation has distributed over 18 million.

The grants are made possible by more than 230 charitable funds, most of which are endowed, allowing donors to meet their charitable goals and create a lasting impact on their community.

CEO Catherine Meckes announced a $1.1 million bequest from Barbara L. McLean during the event, which will support the Community Endowment Fund. This fund provides grants and programs to address needs and opportunities in West Central Illinois and Northeast Missouri. Meckes praised McLean's generosity and emphasized her gift's lasting impact on the region.
