Highmark $1M Grant to Increase Beebe Primary Care Access in Sussex

Delaware's Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield has awarded Beebe Healthcare a $1 million grant to fund the construction of a new clinic for its family medicine residency, the News Journal reports.

The new clinic will be located in Long Neck, which is one of the fastest-growing areas in Sussex County.

Beebe's first four family medicine resident physicians started seeing patients in July 2023.

The new clinic will give current and future residents more space to serve a culturally diverse population in an area that continues to grow.

"Access to primary care is one of our strategic cornerstones for the future of healthcare, and we're growing our own family medicine physicians to serve our expanding community," says Beebe Healthcare President and CEO David A.Tam in a statement.

A groundbreaking event is scheduled for later this year.
