Creative Coast Announces Full Schedule for 2024 Grit Conference

An annual conference in Savannah, Ga., that's supposed to focus on entrepreneurship, technology, and creativity has been canceled after its founder was killed in a kayaking accident, the Savannah Morning News reports.

The GRIT conference was scheduled to take place Feb.

29 and March 1 at the Savannah Civic Center, and organizers said in a statement that "due to the sudden and unexpected death of GRIT founder Erik Reagan, the conference has been canceled for the remainder of this year."

Reagan, who was born in Canada and moved to the US when he was 10, died in a kayaking accident off the Georgia coast on Feb.

He was the only member of his immediate family to survive the incident.

Organizers said in a statement that the conference was canceled "out of respect for Mr. Reagan and his family," and that "we will continue to monitor the situation and work with the police and the Coast Guard to determine what, if any, action should be taken."
