Second India Giving Day to Be Held on March 1

Indian-Americans in the US are giving back to their homeland like never before, with the second India Giving Day set for March 1, 2024, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

According to the India Philanthropy Alliance, more than 1,000 donations poured in during the first India Giving Day in 2023, raising more than $1 million for 25 Indian nonprofits.

The second India Giving Day is expected to be bigger and better.

"The creativity and resources being unleashed on serious problems such as poverty, climate change, eldercare, and animal well-being will lead to big changes in the months and years ahead," Alex Counts, the director of India Giving Day, says in a press release.

Indian-Americans in the US make up one of the largest philanthropic groups in the world, the Inquirer reports.

According to the India Philanthropy Alliance, there is "a larger and more successful Indian diaspora than ever before with an increasing willingness to engage."

The second India Giving Day will feature speakers including Deepak Raj, founder of Raj Associates; Nalini Saligram, CEO of Aarogya World; Paul Glick, executive director of Rural India Supporting Trust; and Manisha Bharti, CEO of Pratham USA.
