Those are the words of Atrium Health's VP of mobile medicine after the company became the first in the US to receive accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Mobile Transport Systems for its Mobile Integrated Health (MIH) program, which provides in-home care to patients who would benefit from in-home care if they were discharged from a hospital or facility, per a release.
"This accreditation serves as a symbol of excellence within the industry, and we are both humbled and proud to have it," says Amanda Williams, director for Atrium Health's MIH program.
The release notes that Atrium's in-home care has resulted in "reductions in emergency room usage, hospital admissions, and readmissions," as well as cost savings and "a faster recovery in the comfort of their home."
The CAMTS, a non-profit organization with a mission to improve the quality and safety of medical transport services, published its initial standards for MIH in 2022.
