Petersheim Fund at Greater Pike Awards $13,150 in Grants

When Chuck Petersheim heard a high school football team in Pike County, Pa., needed funds for a trip to Florida, he decided to pony up.

The Greater Pike Community Foundation recently announced that Petersheim's Petersheim Fund has awarded two grants totaling $3,150 to the Delaware Valley Warrior Football Booster Club and the Farm Arts Collective cultural center in Damascus, Penn., reports the Times Herald-Record.

The grants, totaling $10,000, will be used "to create a thriving Agri-Cultural center at Willow Wisp Organic Farm," says Farm Arts Collective co-founder Tannis Kowalchuk.

The 127-foot barn at Willow Wisp Organic Farm is "an accessible and welcoming space for agricultural education and artistic events to serve the community in Northeast Pennsylvania and the Catskills region," says Kowalchuk.

The second grant went to the DV Booster Club, which "supports DV high school athletes and their coaches through fundraising for the purchase of equipment and to underwrite travel to meets," per a press release.

"Mr. Petersheim, who designs and builds homes in the Catskills, set up his donor-advised fund at Greater Pike to make 'the annual round of giving more like a celebration of well-deserving entities and not an exercise of check writing
