If so, this is a wonderful opportunity for personal and professional growth, where training is available with a great team atmosphere and an excellent benefit package!As a Social Services Aide 2 with Wayne County Children and Youth, you will work closely with caseworkers and other social service aides to provide services in the home to families with children after a caseworker has visited and determined services to be provided. This is an excellent opportunity for one-on-one assistance and communication with families to work toward positive goals and outcomes.

Your duties may include assistance in all areas of family life including: household budgeting; in-home parenting education, proper hygiene, nutrition, cooking /food shopping skills and maintenance of the home. May include transporting consumers to supervised visitation and necessary appointments. May provide child care when necessary; assist in completing applications/forms. Responsible for written report of each appointment with consumers; participate in meetings with other staff to develop treatment plans and set goals for consumers; attend court and testify, if needed; clerical office duties as needed. Duties may include frequent standing, climbing steps and walking distances as a normal part of the job duties. Able to climb flights of steps in homes/apartment buildings where no elevators are present. Manages multiple tasks, able to meet strict deadlines, pays close attention to details under a constantly changing work environment . Travel to areas that may not be accessible to public transportation. Evening and weekend work hours are routine.

* Full-time employment, 37.5 hour per week.

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

* One year as a County Social Services Aide 1; or
* Graduation from high school, or its equivalency, and two years of experience in public contact work in a human services agency which included one year of experience in interviewing and obtaining information; or
* An associate's degree in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or
* Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

* Hiring preference for this vacancy will be given to candidates who live within Lackawanna, Monroe, Pike, Susquehanna, and Wayne Counties. If no eligible candidates who live within these Counties apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.
* You must be able to perform essential job functions.

* You must pass a background investigation.
* A conditional offer of employment will require a drug screening.
* This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
* Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
