ACCOUNTING COORDINATOR / ACCOUNTING SPECIALIST

The Administration and Accounting Division is accepting applications for full-time (40+ hours/week) Accounting Coordinator or Accounting Specialist (depending on qualifications) to ??? and to perform related duties. This position will be based at our District office in Florence, KY but may travel within our region. We could be waiting for YOU!


Status : Full-time (40 hours/week), exempt (weekly pay) merit system positions

Classification : Accounting Coordinator or Accounting Specialist

Band : 5 for Accounting Coordinator; 7 for Accounting Specialist

Starting Pay Rate : $20.57 - $24.78/Hour for Accounting Coordinator; $24.89 - $29.98/Hour for Accounting Specialist (based on your years of directly-related paid experience)

Reports To : Administration and Accounting Manager

Essential Functions include, but are not limited to:

  1. Performs pre-defined work processes associated with Accounts Payable. (Reviews and maintains GL cost centers and accounts. Enters adjustments in GL. Assists with the GL monthly close.)

  2. Performs pre-defined work processes associated with bank accounts . (Submits bank statements to the District Board of Health Chair for review. Reconciles bank statements. Processes state and local environmental permit fees. Responds to check inquiries. Follows up on outstanding checks that have expired. Approves accounts payable invoices.)

  3. Performs pre-defined work processes associated with petty cash . (Sets up petty cash with coordinator for each site. Performs internal audits and reviews. Closes out petty cash accounts. Maintains listing of Petty cash and clinic change fund accounts.)

  4. Performs pre-defined work processes associated with credit card maintenance . ( Enters credit card requests. Maintains credit card limits. Closes credit card. Maintains credit card listing.)

  5. Interprets and communicates and clarifies work processes and policies pertaining to assigned accounting function(s). (MMaintains functional expertise with regulations and best practices for general ledger, bank account, petty cash and credit cards. Communicates work processes and policies. Answers questions about general ledger, bank accounts, petty cash, and credit card functions.)

  6. Prepares necessary reports and statements that pertain to assigned accounting function(s) . (Reports on research findings for a specific request. Reconciles related accounting function reports. Assists with external and internal audit data requests. Maintains files.)

  7. Recommends and incorporates changes to work processes and policies that pertain to assigned accounting function(s) . (Recommends/incorporates changes to the general accounting functions. Incorporates changes to the general ledger, bank accounts, petty cash, and credit card functions.)

  8. Maintains filing and data management system for assigned accounting function(s). (Maintains banking files. Maintains journal entries paperwork in general ledger files.)

  9. Completes special projects. (Responds to public health emergencies as assigned. Completes other special projects. Acts as backup to other accounting functions.)

  10. Performs other duties. (Collaborates in and contributes to individual, team, and/or organizational quality improvement and evaluation activities. Serves on internal committees. Completes timecard. Completes travel reports. Completes required training. Completes other assigned reports. Attends work as scheduled or uses approved leave.)

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:A valid, active driver?s license, reliable transportation and either of the following is required prior to appointment date:

  • Associate's degree (for Accounting Coordinator) Bachelor's degree (for Accounting Specialist) in Accounting, Business Administration or closely related field from an accredited university/college.
  • The equivalent combination of experience and equivalent education to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
