Homeless young people call on Massachusetts legislators to support a bill that would provide youth-based shelters and services geared for their age group.
These homeless youth told lawmakers on the Committee on Children, Families and Persons with Disabilities that they feel safer on the streets rather than endure violence, drug abuse, and theft that are prevalent in shelters. Lawmakers are now looking into the legislation (H 135) that rubber-stamps housing and support services for homeless youth.
