The Journal of Youth Studies contains a published work piece of Dr Helen Jones, a Course Leader in the School of Education and Professional Development at the University of Huddersfield, with recommendations for more long-term youth projects, not short-term funding.

The journal, using data collected for the evaluation of one organization's Youth Sector Development Fund (YSDF) subsidized program of detached work on housing estates in Yorkshire, investigates the tensions between values, targets and positive activities in community-based work.
