In a University of Maryland School of Medicine study published in Neuropsychopharmacology journal, habitual use of marijuana can cause permanent brain impairment in adolescents, not in adults.
Constant puffing of marijuana can also trigger serious psychiatric disorders like schizophrenia. According to lead author, Sylvina Mullins Raver, at the university, says that adolescence is the crucial time during which marijuana use can be damaging.
