A study published in the online issue of Journal of Law, Economics & Organization delves into federal court order outcomes denouncing prison crowding and the effects among states following these orders.
The researchers discovered that court-mandated efforts by the federal government to advance living conditions in state prisons resulted in reduced welfare funding. The research was funded by Rice University and Louisiana State University.
