Study Shows Outbreak of the Great Recession Lead to Harsh Parenting

A study conducted by scholars at New York University, Columbia University, Princeton University, and Pennsylvania State University's College of Medicine finds that the onset of the Great Recession, which led to economic downfalls, can precipitate harsh parenting.

Economic struggles within families lead to stress, which, in turn, leads to corrosion of smart parenting. Results also show that harsh parenting is associated with increases in a city's unemployment rate and declines of confidence in the economy.
