Risk Factor \"Buffers\"

Risk factors can be low self-esteem, loss, poverty, drug exposure, living in in single-parent households and violent neighborhoods.

However, the impact of risk factors can be reduced by protective factors known as "buffer". These "buffers" act as a cushion that deflects harm caused by risk factors. Protective factors include family support, consistent discipline, and clear expectations.
