Child care can be expensive and most parents typically resort to ask their kin for help in babysitting their children.

Placing foster care children with their relatives was considered taboo in the past. Now, kinship care programs are cropping up, with Annie E. Casey Foundation as one of the organizations that includes kinship placement as one of its performance measures in its annual Kids Count Data Center.
