Cuts in Federal Funding Causes Fewer Local Head Start Slots

Federal budget cuts tremendously affected the local Head Start programs, which mean fewer children from low-income families will get services for school readiness.

However, the US Department of Health and Human Services has awarded $6,350,032 to Enrichment Services Program Inc. to help serve 887 children in Head Start and Early Head Start during the 2013-14 school year. But due to sequestration, the money isn't sufficient.
