Rising Toll of Obesity Kills More Americans Than Previously Thought


In a startling review funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, obesity is a lot deadlier than previously thought.

Researchers at Columbia University's Mailman School of Public Health observe that obesity is responsible for a rising toll of deaths in the United States and declines in US life expectancy. The study, "The Impact of Obesity on U.S. Mortality Levels: The Importance of Age and Cohort Factors in Population Estimates," is published online in the American Journal of Public Health.
