New Commonwealth Fund Survey Shows Majority of Young Adults Want Health Insurance but Many Are Put Off by Cost; Low Income Individuals Most at Risk of Going Without Coverage


In the latest Commonwealth Fund survey, 7.8 million of the 15 million young adults enrolled in their parent's health insurance last year will be unqualified this coverage without the health reform law's dependent coverage provision.

The survey also finds that only 27 percent of young adults know about the state health insurance implementation that are launching October 1 through the Affordable Care Act. The report is "Covering Young Adults Under the Affordable Care Act: The Importance of Outreach and Medicaid Expansion."
