New medical findings from the September issue of the Journal of Health and Social Behavior indicate that better-educated middle-aged Americans are less likely to smoke and remain more physically active than those who are less-educated.

According to the study's researchers, health problems arise throughout the timeline and how people counter to new medical conditions can shape their future health. The findings appear in "Educational Differences in Healthy Behavior Changes and Adherence Among Middle-aged Americans."
