Feeding America, the country's leading domestic hunger-relief charity, responds to the passage of the House Bill that will cut $39 billion from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, or food stamps).
These cuts to SNAP will take effect on Nov. 1, 2013, which will result in the loss of about 3.4 billion meals provided to low-income Americans in 2014.
The Larder Cook School in West Lothian is a social enterprise that trains young people for a career in the food business. Recently, the school has launched a crowdfunder to help it teach another 80 students a year.
