Employed Homeless New Yorkers

The New York Times article by Mireya Navarro illustrates struggling working people who hold one or two jobs, but are homeless and living in shelters.

According to City data gathered by the Coalition for the Homeless, the rate of homeless New Yorkers who are working has significantly grown in recent years. One of the factors that contributed to the rising NYC homelessness is the failed policies of Mayor Bloomberg that attempt to take away permanent housing resources geared for homeless children and families.
