Connecticut Gets Flak for Not Meeting Child Safety Standards in Day Care Centers

The inspector generals working for the US Department of Health and Human Services find that the state of Connecticut is doing a terrible job at meeting health and safety standards among children in day care centers.

Among the day care centers investigated, most had multiple violations. Two were so bad that the operators voluntarily surrendered their licenses. The Connecticut Department of Public Health, which has responsibility for licensing and inspections, did not dispute the inspector general's findings and recommendations.
