Child Care Federal Subsidies Imperiled by Government Shutdown

Programs and services that provide subsidies to low-income families aren't being granted federal money due to the government shutdown.

The Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) wasn't extended so the mandatory funds were stopped. Low-income parents and families are deeply threatened as child care services are incredibly costly. States that have less state money invested are going to be worse off, says Hannah Matthews, director of child care and early education at CLASP.
