Women: Leading the Social Enterprise Revolution


Former Chilean President Michelle Bachelet, at the 2012 Social Enterprise World Forum in Rio de Janeiro, addressed that "women are natural social entrepreneurs."

The new field of social entrepreneurship is now suited to women. Instead of telling women to be more like men to succeed in social ventures, women should be encouraged to look to the skills they do have to succeed in social enterprise.

    The Social Economy Alliance, created by 23 social enterprises, co-operatives and charities, have conducted a poll that shows “clear preference exists for community-owned businesses that reinvest profits, with around half of consumers saying they would switch to one in housing, transport and banking.”
