Corruption Remains to Hold Back Educational Progress in Low-Income Countries

Corruption is still one of the major factors that hinder progress in low and middle income countries. The Transparency International’s "Global Corruption Report: Education" was launched to include experiences from all over the developing world.

Corruption serves as an added tax on the poor who are obligated to comply with demands for unlawful fees and bribes, from primary to university level. The authors of a large study conducted by the International Monetary Fund found corruption is consistently related to greater cost and lower quality of education.
