An annual report from the National Center for Homeless Education finds that nearly 1.2 million homeless students are enrolled in schools nationwide, with a 10 percent increase from the previous school year.
States that have the highest homeless student rates include California, New York, Florida, Illinois and Michigan. The report is funded by the U.S. Department of Education.
