Homeless School-Age Children Hits Record High

In a recent census, 1.1 million children are at an increased risk of falling behind, dropping out and joining either the criminal justice system or the welfare system by being homeless.

The increase in the number of homeless children took root during the recession in 2007 and has continued since then. And children who experience homelessness without apt support are 60 percent more likely to drop out of school than those in a stable environment.
