Study Shows Adolescents Drink Alone to Cope with Negative Emotions


According to study in an upcoming issue of Clinical Psychological Science, teens that drink alone have more alcohol problems, are heavier drinkers and are more likely to drink to cope with negative emotions.

The study was conducted by researchers at Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Pittsburgh, and funded by The National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism and National Institute on Mental Health.
