The rate of homelessness in the U.S. has dropped for a third straight year.
The decline was helped by efficient dropoffs in veteran and chronic homelessness. According to the survey by the Housing and Urban Development Department, there was a 4 percent drop from the previous year. The study surveyed people in 3,000 cities and counties.
