The New York Legislature enacted the Strengthening Families Through Stronger Fathers Initiative in 2006 to aid low-income noncustodial parents find work and pay for child support.
Urban Institute has released a summary of impact findings through the initiative, which more than 20,000 people received the initiative's refundable tax credit, known as the noncustodial parent earned income tax credit (NCP EITC). The report finds that the program had strong positive effects on the number of fathers who participated.
