Teen Energy Drink Use Associated with Substance Use


A study in the January/February Journal of Addiction Medicine, the official journal of the American Society of Addiction Medicine, documents teens who consume energy drinks are more likely to use alcohol and drugs.

The findings note that boys were more likely to use energy drinks than girls. Use was also higher for teens with single parents and those whose parents were less educated. The journal is published by Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, a part of Wolters Kluwer Health.
