Jason Hyder, Surfrider Foundation Sebastian Inlet chapter’s volunteer coordinator, led a sea-oat planting campaign in defense of the dunes.
Together with a crew of 14 Brownies from Longleaf, they dug holes to plant sea-oat shoots roughly 18 inches apart along eroded stretches of the Archie Carr National Wildlife Refuge and beachside Brevard County during a two-day Sow Yer Oats dune restoration effort.
Village Capital announced the winners of the $50,000 prize awarded to social entrepreneurs who don’t “self-define as social entrepreneurs”. The winners didn’t start out thinking of themselves as social enterprises.
