Extending Health Coverage Under the Affordable Care Act


The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) have spawned new opportunities for health and human services programs to incorporate eligibility determination, enrollment, and retention.

Researchers at the Urban Institute, in collaboration with federal project officers at the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation (ASPE) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), with input from members of a Technical Working Group, have merged an analysis to identify the two human services programs with beneficiary populations that will overlap with health programs when the Affordable Care Act is fully implemented.

    Social Enterprise Is Re-Housing Unwanted Furniture

    Weston Mill-based social enterprise Surplus Rescue CIC (Community Interest Company) recycles and finds homes for unwanted furniture. To date, it has received “extensive amounts” of quality second-hand furniture including desks, pedestals, cupboards and office chairs from a former local authority office equipment – and wants to find them a good home.
