New Report Finds Effective Treatment for Youth Anxiety Disorders Brings Lasting Benefit

A study that appears in the Journal of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry discovered that youth with moderate to severe anxiety disorders react well to acute treatment with cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), medication (sertraline), or a combination of both.

Anxiety disorders are the most common mental disorders among children and adolescents. The article is entitled 24 and 36 Week Outcomes for the Child/Adolescent Anxiety Multimodal Study (CAMS).
