Michigamme Township Gets DIG Grant for Streetscape Improvement Project


Michigamme Township landed a $258,581 Downtown Infrastructure Grant check for a streetscape improvement project.

The project is geared to commence during the middle of summer 2014. The township grants were part of the 14 announced by the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, the only grant of the group awarded in the Upper Peninsula, and approved by the Michigan Strategic Fund.

Nonprofit impact investing firm, Acumen, has invested $1.2 million to KZ Noir, a Rwanda-based coffee processing company owned by Kaizen Venture Partners. The investment will equip KZ Noir the funds for working capital, debt refinancing, and capacity expansion.
