According to a study published in the journal Frontiers in Psychology, researchers from Concordia University found that, like monolingual children, bilingual children prefer speaking exchanges with those who speak their mother tongue with a native accent rather than with peers with a foreign accent.
Psychology professor Krista Byers-Heinlein pointed out that bilingual children are biased against foreign accents because this may be associated with children's inclination for familiarity.
