Proposed Medicare Part D Would Hike Senior Premiums, Raise Medicare Costs by $24 Billion


A Pharmaceutical Care Management Association (PCMA) study reports about the proposed changes to the Medicare prescription drug program eliminating preferred pharmacy networks in Part D, which would raise premiums and grow overall costs by $24 billion over the next decade.

The Medicare Payment Advisory Committee has warned CMS that the proposed changes to preferred pharmacy networks could result to disruptions in beneficiaries' access to medicines.
