In the wake of the May 2011 tornado, Missouri has approved funding for Joplin, which will be distributed to city street and sewer projects under a decree to be considered by the Joplin City Council.
The funds are administered through the Missouri Department of Economic Development, and are authorized by the Missouri Legislature. Funds are to be used for infrastructure repairs not covered by federal Community Development Block Grant funds.
