The Women's World Banking Leadership Community was initially launched with seed funding provided by Cisco Foundation in 2012 as the answer to foster a community with a purpose.

Borrowing the eight strategic design dimensions from Katrina Pugh, who with Laurence Prusak, has created the Eight Dimensions of Network Design, Women's World Banking is at the forefront in advancing learning processes for microfinance leaders and creating a safe haven for them to share ideas and hone leadership skills.
