What's in store for women, parents and families in this year's federal budget? There will be "reduced income eligibility for Family Tax Benefits Part B, and the payment will cease when the child reaches school age. Rates will be on hold for a time. This is intended to encourage women to get a job," according to Treasurer Joe Hockey.

If approved, the Paid Parental Leave Scheme will also help women return to work and boost their retirement savings. There are also some budget savings for child care, women owners of small businesses, and funding for the Office for Women's Leadership and Development Strategy.
